For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about helping others and supporting them to become their best selves. That
passion has led me to work for over 15 years with children and young people in a range of settings including supporting victims of crime, youth justice and more recently education in both charities and local authorities.
Having the benefit of being born and raised in the local area, I am able to bring both my personal experience (as a local resident and a parent) alongside my professional expertise to the trustee role. It is my pleasure to sit on the board of trustees for HCCA: Brickworks Community Centre is a true community space, bringing people from all walks of life in through its doors, representing the needs of local residents, working to influence change and deliver services that serve the diverse needs of the local Crouch Hill/Stroud Green/Tollington community (and beyond!).

Steven has been working in community development and engagement for almost a decade. The Hanley Crouch Community Association has played a key role in my upbringing, and I still recall the days when we were the ‘Laundry Club’ based down the road. A lot of my childhood memories are associated with the time I spent at the youth club run by Hanley Crouch. It provided us with a space to connect with others, socialise and feel safe.
As the years went by and I grew into my adult years, I faced different challenges that could have been associated with my immediate environment within the community. Fortunately for me, I was able to overcome these challenges and go on to assume different roles, which include working in community development.
I have the opportunity to connect with members of the community on a regular basis which allows me to learn about challenges people face on a daily basis.
I am currently on the Board of Trustees and volunteer for the foodbank. I have an extensive background in sports, mental health, justice and advisory. My mission is to help tackle some of the social issues we face in our community and help inspire others lead better lives.

My international interests are widespread with particular attention to human rights, peace and justice. I’ve travelled widely and continue to support those areas and communities affected by unresolved conflict including the Western Sahara, West Papua, the Chagos Islands, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Ireland, West Papua, the Dalit community, the Rohingya.
Recipient of the 2017 Sean McBride Peace Prize and more.
